Abdell Named SSC Offensive Player of the Week

Winter Park, Fla. – Senior outside hitter Kala Abdell has been selected as the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office.  Abdell led the Fighting Knights to a 2-0 record last week while averaging 3.2 kills, 2.7 digs, and 1.2 blocks per set in those matches.

In a three-set win over Barry, Abdell led the squad with eight kills, five digs, five blocks, an assist, and a service ace.  Later in the week, the native of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., posted a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, two blocks and an assist in a straight-set victory at Nova Southeastern.

Abdell and the Fighting Knights (18-7, 9-3 SSC) close out their home schedule against Sunshine State Conference rivals, Eckerd and No. 3 Tampa, this weekend.  The Tritons are in town Friday, November 5, at 7 pm, while the No. 4 Spartans come to Boca Saturday, November 6, at 4 pm.  The matchup against the Spartans will be the final regular season home match for Abdell and six other Lynn seniors.
