RMAC Men's Basketball Release #5

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Click here the view the fifth Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball release of the 2010-11 season. Included in Monday's release are league standings, a list of last week's results, a schedule of upcoming games, a look at the national polls as well as preseason conference awards and rankings.

The Adams State College Grizzlies claimed a pair of RMAC road wins over the weekend, the first of conference play, at Colorado State-Pueblo and UC-Colorado Springs and are one of just three undefeated teams left in the RMAC at 5-0 overall.  They also sit in a tie for first place in the RMAC standings at 2-0.

The Grizzlies have now won nine straight games dating back to last season, the longest active multiple-year streak in the conference, and lead the RMAC in three different statistical categories pacing the conference in steals (13.4 per game), turnover margin (+6.2) and field goal percentage defense (.366).  The Grizzlies also have the top two individual thieves in the conference as Marqus Richards (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Jamiko Verner (Denver, Colo.) stand 1-2 in steals with 2.6 and 2.4 per game averages.

The Grizzlies, who last started 2-0 in RMAC play in 2005-06, will put their undefeated mark on the line this Saturday when they travel to Durango to face RMAC Preseason Favorite Fort Lewis, which is 5-1 overall and 1-1 in RMAC play after falling at Colorado State-Pueblo, 78-74 on Saturday.  Tip-off in the Skyhawks' Whalen Gymnasium is slated for 8 p.m., following the women's 6 p.m. clash.

The Grizzlies have not defeated the Skyhawks on the road since Feb. 3, 2004 but did split the season series last year, a season that saw each team win at home.

All of the Grizzlies' games can be heard live on KSPK-FM (104.1 in Alamosa) or via the internet at www.kspk.com.  All of their remaining games, including Saturday's, can also be seen online via AmericaOne (formerly B2 Networks). Live statistics of both of Saturday's game will also be available and can be accessed by clicking here.
