WALTHAM, Mass. -- During a diving meet with Tufts University Friday night at the Dana Center pool, Bentley University’s Emily Travers (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) and Shelly D’Aleo (Enfield, Conn./Suffield Academy) qualified for the NCAA Division II Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships following record-setting performances.
Travers qualified off both the one- and three-meter boards, and D’Aleo met the qualifying mark off the one-meter.
Travers broke her own school record by about 75 points with a winning score of 449.10 in the three-meter. She was also second of four in the one-meter event, with her score of 409.55 about 23.5 points higher than the existing mark.
However, she didn’t earn the school record in that event. That honor went to D’Aleo, with a winning effort of 418.75, best ever by a woman in the one-meter at the Dana Center pool.
On the men’s side, senior Mike Walsh (South Salem, N.Y./John Jay HS) was second of three in the three-meter, earning 405.95 points, and was second of five off the one-meter, with a score of 400.20. Tuft’s Johann Schmidt won both with scores of 509.20 and 469.55, respectively.
