Junior guard Russell Graham III scored 14 points in his debut for the Warriors, senior guard Mike DeMarco and sophomore forward Terrance King scored 12 points and senior guard Micah Covert and sophomore forward Marcus Brown had 10 points each for the Warriors.
ESU is coming off a record-setting season which included a 24-6 record, a share of the PSAC East regular season championship and the second appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament in school history. The Warriors played a pair of very competitive exhibitions against Division I schools Penn State and Binghamton, and were able to play all 14 players at least 10 minutes on Saturday.
Johnson and King both scored 12 points in the first half, Covert had 10 and Graham scored nine as ESU opened a 67-28 halftime lead. ESU’s 119 points are tied for the second-most in school history.
The Warriors hit 12 three-pointers, including three by redshirt sophomore guard Matt Labick, who finished with nine points. Senior forward Mike Tobin, the team’s leading returning scorer, had eight points, sophomore guard Gerald Bridges, Jr. also had eight points and sophomore guard Blair Ramsey, Bridges’ high school teammate, scored seven in his first action at ESU.
The rest of the Warriors’ scorers were junior forward Eric Bryan and freshman guard Will Brown with five each, redshirt freshman forward Andre Howard with two and redshirt freshman forward Dan Clapp with one point.
ESU is back in action on Monday, Nov. 22 with a trip to Lock Haven for a non-conference game at 7:30 p.m.
