GOLDEN, Colo. (Oct. 30, 2010) – Colorado School of Mines defeated Colorado Christian University in five sets (14-25, 25-17, 17-25, 25-19, 15-13) on Saturday night, October 30th, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) volleyball action at Lockridge Arena.
Elizabeth Serra-Hsu, who became CSM’s all-time career leader in kills during the Orediggers’ home match against UC – Colorado Springs on October 26th, recorded 20 kills, nine digs and three service aces. Jackie Stabell and Melanie Wannamaker both finished with 13 kills and five block assists while Hannah Margheim accumulated a team-most 13 digs. Amanda Massey handed out 51 assists as Mines improved to 18-7 overall (11-5 RMAC).
CCU’s Erica Brown (13 digs) led all players with 24 kills. Andi Weber (five block assists) tallied 16 kills, Lauren Rosenthal distributed 51 assists and Cassidy Burke contributed 12 digs as the Cougars saw their record slip to 16-13 overall (8-8 RMAC).
The Orediggers, who were ranked eighth in this week’s NCAA Division II Central Region Rankings, will conclude the regular-season portion of their schedule by hosting Nebraska-Kearney and Chadron State College on Friday and Saturday, November 5th and 6th, respectively.
November 5th (7:00 p.m. start) will be Parent’s Night and November 6th (6:00 p.m. start) will be Senior Night. Both matches will be played at Lockridge Arena.
The RMAC Tournament is scheduled to be played on Thursday – Saturday, November 11th – 13th, at Nebraska-Kearney.
