UMass Lowell Field Hockey National Championship Rally Set for Friday at the Tsongas Center

River Hawks’ Perfect Season Will Be Celebrated at 3:00 p.m.

LOWELL (Dec. 6, 2010) – The 2010 NCAA Division II National Champion UMass Lowell field hockey team will celebrate its undefeated, 24-0 season with a rally at the Tsongas Center on Friday, Dec. 10 at 3:00 p.m.  Fans, students, faculty, staff, administrators, family and friends are all welcome to join the River Hawks and welcome the NCAA Championship trophy back to Lowell.

The first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free championship t-shirt and everyone can enjoy free pretzels, hot chocolate and dessert, after they help the team cut the championship cake.  Admission is free.

The River Hawks’ perfect season was punctuated by a 1-0 victory over the Shippensburg Raiders on Saturday afternoon in Louisville, Ky., earning the program’s second NCAA Championship. With the victory, the team brought their record 24-0 and became the first undefeated NCAA Champions in school history.

UMass Lowell’s season boasted the triple crown of championships (Northeast-10 Regular Season, Northeast-10 Tournament and NCAA Tournament), shattered NCAA and program records and earning the No. 1 spot in the Kookaburra/NFHCA National Division II Coaches Poll.
