ESU Women’s Volleyball Splits Tri-Match with West Chester, Bowie State


WEST CHESTER – Sophomores Kristina Perri and Kaitlin Behrens combined for 20 kills and a .548 hitting percentage to lead East Stroudsburg University to a 3-0 win over Bowie State in a tri-match at West Chester on Saturday.

Perri had 12 kills and hit .611 and Behrens posted eight kills and hit .462 as the Warriors won 25-8, 25-6, 25-8.

In the first match of the day, West Chester posted a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-21, 25-17) over the Warriors, who were led by 10 kills from senior outside hitter Alyson Stark. ESU’s leading hitter during all four seasons of her career, Stark surpassed her previous season-best with 313 kills. She had 307 kills as a sophomore in 2008.

Behrens had seven kills vs. West Chester, senior outside hitter Emily Detter had five kills and nine digs and senior libero Lindsey Lullo (15) and freshman setter Allye Preziosi (10) both hit double figures in digs.

Preziosi had 26 assists in the first match and 32 kills against Bowie State. Sophomore middle blocker Jennifer Forbes had five kills and freshman middle blocker Ashley Lesniak and Detter bot had four kills. Sophomore Katie O’Neill had a team-high nine digs.

ESU (9-25) has two matches remaining on its 2010 schedule hosting Kutztown on Senior Night next Friday at 7 p.m. at Koehler Fieldhouse and Cheyney on Saturday at 2 p.m.
